3d Punisher Tutorial - Cinema 4D

HOW TO MAKE A WALLPAPER FROM A 3D PUNISHER
kialo.software@gmail.com | Spanish Harlem New York City

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

Photoshop
Cinema 4D
PC Computer (You're a PC)
Unzip Utility To Unzip WorkFiles

FIRST DOWNLOAD THE WORK FILES: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=JJL4POM5

First load the punisher skull file found in the work file download pack. Open that up in Photoshop.

Next grab the MAGIC WAND TOOL and click inside the white area of the image.

Now on the LAYERS window on the right, grab the PATHS tab...press arrow and 'Make work path...'

Good job. Now keeping that selected, go to LAYERS tab and create empty layer and remove the original image layer.

 You're pretty good at this.

Now save this as an EXPORT as shown...then remove all paticles of your clothing.

 NOW LETS INTEGRATE CINEMA 4D

FILE/MERGE...locate the (*.ai) tracer file you just saved in Photoshop.

Cool, there it is. Next you will discover why we did all that in Photoshop.

Rather than import the image in Cinema 4D and do a manual tracer...Photoshop did it much faster and more accurate than we would by hand. Now lets make this tracer a polygon with some thickness to it (don't tell your friends you are not wearing any clothing).

At the top of the menu area...find this...grab the EXTRUDE NURBS.

Drag the PUNISHER SKULL object onto the Extrude NURBS object. Be careful because there are several DRAG options.

Oh boy, you are pretty good at this. Now lets rotate it so that its flat on the ground...then grab a beer from the 'fridge.

After you donate a brand new duo core laptop computer to me, hold down your CTRL key and with your mouse LEFT button rotate the object until its 90 degrees flat. YOU MUST MAKE SURE THE EXTRUDE NURBS object is selected on the OBJECTS panel on the right...not the PUNISHER object.

Good, now in the TOP viewport...reposition the skull.

Good. Now the next images show you how to add an environment...otherwise we will not have any light to render with.

Okay, so you just created a FLOOR, SKY and ENVIRONMENT object.

Now at the bottom, create two material objects. Click on them to change the DIFFUSE color (black/white).

The ENVIROMENT object you just created a second ago, increase the strength to 12.

Drag black onto floor object. Drag white onto punisher mesh object.

 Go to the menu...RENDER/RENDER SETTINGS...

We won't use GI for this example but we could use the anti-aliasing (shown).
Also in OUTPUT, change the settings to whatever output size you want (eg. 640 x 480).

Almost done...now in the perspective viewport...select CAMERAS and pick TOP so that when this renders it will do so from the TOP view and not the default perspective view.

Render out and VIOLA...you are punished!

You can explore this by adding maps to the materials and so forth.

EXAMPLE JUST ABOVE: 3d Max, VRay and HDRI lighting with image bump.

Examples of same tutorial with a bitmap material added to the white material.
